Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

What is it and how does it work?

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is specialized type of massage designed to assist the flow of lymphatic fluid through the body, which stimulates the lymph nodes and reduces “stagnation” of fluids in specific areas of the body.

Lymphatic massage focuses on taking advantage of lymph circulation. In a normal system, lymph fluid circulates in a one-way trip around the body. Because it doesn’t have its own independent pump system, the fluid is moved upward against pressure by the pumps created by the active and passive muscle and joint movements.

During this journey, lymph nodes filter the fluid as it passes through them and makes its way to the base of the neck. Once this cleaned lymph fluid reaches the subclavian veins, it’s returned into the bloodstream.

When the lymph is moving freely again, it drains into the bloodstream to eliminate toxic wastes from your body.

What to expect on your Lymphatic Drainage Therapy

The INSPIRATION instrument may be used by itself, or in combination with manual lymphatic drainage massage, depending upon the condition being treated. The treatment is done on a table, with your body covered, except for the area being treated. A full explanation of the therapy to be performed will follow, and then the treatment session will begin. Either the therapist’s hands or The INSPIRATION device will then be passed very lightly over the treatment area, for a varied period of time. Session time will vary among clients, based on certain factors. Most clients find the therapy deeply relaxing as well as worthwhile, a therapy almost anyone may benefit from.
